I chose to research the vaquita because it looks so unusual.
The male and female vaquita look exactly the same. They have a dark patch around their eye and mouth, that make it look like it’s wearing a mask. They have a grayish whitish under-belly and are 4-5 feet long. The vaquita’s wave shaped dorsal fin is positioned on the center of its body, and is taller than on other porpoises. It has small broad flippers. There is a faint double “v” shape pointing towards its tail and can weigh from 30 to 55 kg. The vaquita is found in the Gulf of California. I like this cetacean not only because it’s unusual looking but because of its small size.
