The Gervis Beaked Whale
Have you ever seen a whale with fangs? The Gervis beaked whale has teeth like fangs. It has two that teeth are poking up from the bottom jaw. The dorsal fin is a bent triangle shape located on the lower area of its back. The Gervis has flukes that are straight on every side. The Gervis’ flippers are short and powerful. Gervis whales have very slender bodies. The whale has a bump on the top of its head, which is called a melon. The beak sticks out from the melon. It also has small eyes. White blotches on the underside of the belly resemble freckles. But the Gervis is not the vampire of the sea!
